Robert White, 1697 A charming portrait of a young boy wearing a wig, coat, waistcoat and frilled white shirt Plumbago on vellum, indistinctly signed and dated, set in turned pearwood frame.

White a pupil of David Loggan executed some of the finest plumbao miniatures of the seventeenth century. He was also an engraver and is known to have engraved about 400 portraits, some being after his own drawings. He travelled extensively in connection with his art. He painted the portraits amongst others of Charles II and James Scott, Duke of Monmouth.
