Roland Wilkes was a landscape painter who lived near Northwich in Cheshire and then Nuneaton, in Warwickshire. He exhibited a number of works at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in the 1950s and 1960s. This painting was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1961 and bears the appropriate exhibition label. It also bears the artist's label providing the title of the work and his full address in Nuneaton and a James Bourlet packers & shippers label.

The artist has numbered this painting No. 3 suggesting that pehaps he produced more than one view of Winster.

The painting is a watercolour and is retained behind glass in its original plain wood strip frame. If the purchaser requires posting then for safety reasons the glass would need to be removed before posting.

The watercolour has not been removed from the frame but appears to be in very good condition. However, the mount is not of conservation quality and shows some dirt ingress. A purchaser may therefore feel the need to have the work re-framed.
