The beautifully proportioned mahogany case with a shallow fretted pagoda top and brass finials has excellent colour and patination. The case has reeded columns with brass capitals and bases and fine flame veneers.
The 12 inch arched brass dial has an applied silvered chapter ring and gilt corner spandrels. There is a strike/silent subsidiary dial in the arch flanked by two well-cast spandrels. Within the dial there is a subsidiary seconds dial and a date aperture above VI. The blued steel hands are well pierced and faceted.

*Joseph Rose and Son are listed on page 669 in Brian Loomes’s Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World as working in Foster Lane, London between 1765 and 1784.
