An early 19th century rosewood veneered and brass bound deed box by Aucoc Ainé of Paris.
The box has brass inlay, military plate handles and a plaque in the middle of the lid.
The interior is fitted out with burgundy coloured leather and the lid has two brass arms to hold it open at 90°.
The box is signed on the lock 'Aucoc ainé a Paris', who were founded by Casimir Aucoc in the early 19th centruy, were a family of well known goldsmiths and jewellers.
The box is in good condition and has had the polish sympathetically restored and a new baize fitted to the underside. (Circa 1840)
