Roslyn Zalin was born in 1942 or 1943 and initially studied Social Anthropology at Manchester University (1961-64). She then taught in Ghana and Nigeria and this experience created a strong interest in textiles. After her return to the UK, she studied Art & Design at what is now the University of Central Birmingham, specialising in textiles. She was elected a Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and also exhibited her work with the Pastel Society. Roslyn sadly died as a solo show of her work was opening at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. A memorial prize has been established at the Society in her memory.

This painting is a pastel on buff coloured paper and is mounted behind glass in a gold strip frame, most probably its original frame. The location (Belbroughton) and date (1995) of the work are provided on a label on the reverse. From 2003 Roslyn lived at Bewdley but before that had lived at Clent, Worcestershire, which is only 2 to 3 miles from Belbroughton. If a purchaser requires posting then for safety reasons the glass would need to be removed.
The pastel appears to be in good clean condition but has not been examined out of the frame.
