The Box is circular in form and the sides are engraved with two bands of basket weave design. The cover is also engraved with the same designs as seen on the side enclosing the Monarch's Crown, above the Rose of England, and C R for Charles Rex, Charles II. This piece is an extremely rare survivor and would have been used for patches, which were placed decoratively on the face.
