The Inkwell was originally sold in the famous sale of a selection of Princess Margaret's belongings at Christie's, in June 2006, after her death. The Inkstand comes with a leather bound Certificate of Provenance, stamped with her personal Royal Seal and signed by her son, Viscount Linley. Personal belongings of the Royal family seldom come onto the market, and this is a rare opportunity to acquire something which was previously owned and used by the sister of Queen Elizabeth II. Two photographs are shown on the balcony at Buckingham Palace, firstly on the occasion of her marriage to Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowden, and secondly the 100th Birthday of her mother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.
