A SADELI AND IVORY GLOVE BOX

Circa 1870.
The rectangular glove box of wood and lined in sandalwood, with a hinged lid, decorated to the top and all sides with carved ivory panels, the panel to the lid showing opposing elephants grabbing large birds in their trunks, the side panels
carved with flower heads and branches, the panels surrounded by sadeli borders
with ivory and ebony edge mouldings, the interior surface of the lid also inlaid
with sadeli roundels in a geometric design.
Measurements: 2 ½” (6.5cm) High 11” (28cm) Wide 4 ¼” (10.5cm) Deep
