An unusual and poignant sampler dedicated to: 'a beloved child who after a severe and painful conflict with Mortality under that dreadful disease the Small Pox' died aged 14 months and 14 days on September 14th 1822. The sampler is anonymous, naming neither the victim or it's creator. The verse is adapted from lines composed by Harriet Walker.
It is interesting to note that in 1822 Louis Pasteur was born, he was to go on to pioneer small pox vaccination.
Very good.
