Charming and beautifully fashioned silver novelty pencil in the form of a pig which turns into a propelling pencil when you pull the pigs tail out.
Maker: Sampson Mordan. London circa 1880.

The pig is not hallmarked but the maker's mark 'S Mordan & Co' is stamped on the tail and is visible when retracted.
This is a delightful piece and has a dual purpose - it can be suspended on a chain or ribbon as a pendant as well as being used as a pencil and would make an excellent gift.
A suspension ring is affixed to the body of the pig.

Sampson Mordan is highly collectible and renowned for his unusual and innovative objects which were always made to an extremely high standard.

Length: 1.3 inches (3.3cm) when closed - 2.5 inches (6.35cm) when extended
Height: 1.2 inches (3.05cm) excluding suspension ring
Weight: 0.4 troy ounces (12.5 grams)
