An 8 day solid mahogany Scottish longcase with figured panels. The case is of simple form with an architectural pediment and outstanding figured panels to the door and base. It has a circular dial a long door with a book matched veneered base and bracket feet. The 13" diameter dial has a subsidiary seconds and date dial and is signed by the Makers,James Muirhead of Glasgow. It has an 8 day movement that strikes the hours on a bell. James Muirhead is listed as a maker 1817-41. He was watchmaker to Queen Victoria and has a clock in the Ilbert collection.
The case has been repolished, the dial restored and the movement has been serviced in our own workshops and is guaranteed for 12 months. If you would like a video clip of this clock striking please email us.
