Painted in an exhuberant Imari palette of green, iron-red, underglaze-blue, and gilt with oriental flowers, foliage and stylized rockwork. This pattern, Chamberlain's Worcester '276',
was very popular in England during the early 19th century. At that time it would have been known as a "Japan pattern".
(See Geoffrey Godden, Chamberlain-Worcester Porcelain 1788-1852, pp. 11 and 123, pls. 120 and 144).
