Significant 18th century large Swedish baroque armchair with a good patina to the colour. Ca 1730.

The black colour is secondary and applied ca 1870 accordingly to the current fashion created by Quenn Victoria’s deep mourning after Prince Albert's death in 1861.

This type of armchair was typical for the Wrangelsta Palatset (Wrangel Palace) which was the official Stockholm residence of the royal family and court from 1697 until 1754 during the renovations / rebuilding of the Royal Palace of Stockholm after the great fire in 1697.
