Hand woven in the workshops of Hereke (N.W.Turkey under the tutorage of a master weaver to a "Kum Kapur" design.The rug features a Mirhab with the field infilled with a Shah Abbas floral background including rosettes and palmettes, interwoven with cloudbands and corner pieces depicting birds and vases.
Surrounding part of the main design are several cartouches woven in gold thread, decorated with Arabic scroll work with quotations from the Koran. The main construction not withstanding the gold thread, is silk pile on silk base. 100% silk. There are no repairs, and the rug is in perfect condition
