This exquisite Antique Burr Walnut Silver Vanity Box, contains eleven glass jars all with superb square cutting and have spectacular engraved stirling silver lids all stamped with the silver smith makers mark John Harris, London 1861 and engraved with entwined initials which appear to be K.E.A. In the centre of the box has a removable accoutrements pad containing Scissors, button hook, pen knife, tweezers, cork screw and engraved pencil with a semi precious purple glass and room for more precious jewels, removal of the large in the vanity box reveals another slim tray and under this gives you more storage space for other vanity items.
The interior lid is lined with gold tooled black leather with a ruched blue silk velvet which is a free standing reversible mirror, when removed reveals a secret letter compartment and a makers label which reads: Halstaff & Hannaford, manufacturers 228 Regent Street.
The bottom and side of this Antique Vanity Box box has a concealed Jewellery drawer which can only be accessed when the box is opened and the drawer has been unlocked using the key, there's a brass sprung pin between the two hinges at the back of the box and one on the side of the box, once pressed the Jewellery drawer springs forward revealing a removable leather tooled jewellery cover hiding the beautiful gold tooled blue silk velvet interior.
This wonderful Antique Silver Dressing case comes with a S.Mordan & Co lock with a Crown Patent & fully working locks & tasselled keys.
