Sir John Vanburgh, Laudatory Medal, , silver, 1855, by Benjamin Wyon, draped bust of Sir John Vanburgh wearing wig three quarters facing, SIR JOHN VANBURGH, rev. facade of the central block of Blenheim Palace, BLENHEIM, 55 mm, (BHM. 2572). Two minor edge knocks, otherwise good very fine and extremely rare in silver.
Sir John Vanburgh, (1664- 1726). Dramatist and architect. Apart from being manager of Haymarket Theatre and a successful dramatist he also excelled as an architect at such houses as Castle Howard and Blenheim.
