Sir William John Newton, 1811 A pretty portrait of Jane Rennell( 1785?-1863) the wife of Admiral Sir John Tremayne Rodd, KCB, wearing low cut white dress with blue ribbon waistband and pearl at her corsage, pillar background Signed and dated on the obverse and reverse.

Jane was the daughter of James Rennell who after the death of Sir Joseph Banks, became the acknowledged head of British geographers. After her marriage in 1809, Jane spent many years collating, revising and publishing the geographical and hydro graphic work of her father.
