Height. 14 inches (36 cm)
Provenance. Colefax & Fowler Collection.
Interestingly the backplate has a small plate engraved with the address 42 Pall Mall London and numbered 2/269, underneath which the backplate is signed New Bond Street, London and numbered 2/246. Evidently this clock was made by Viner but never used and taken into stock when Lund & Blockley took over the business in circa 1870. Lund and Blockley look to have carried on using Viner's numbering, possibly making 23 clocks before using the movement of 2/246 and re numbering it.

Charles Edward Viner (1788-1879). A very fine watch, clock and chronometer maker. Apprenticed to Thomas Savage in 1802 he became a member of The Clockmakers Company in 1813 and was a Liveryman between 1819 and 1840. He traded from several London addresses, 233 Regent Street, 1 Royal Exchange and a retail outlet at 151 New Bond Street.
Height 14.00 inch (35.56 cm)
