The decorative antique bust sits on a solid ebony turned support, resting on the centre column with ring turnings to the base of the column. This solid bird's eye maple column sits on a rosewood veneered platform base. The base has a slight warp in it that does not affect the standing of the piece but is visible from the side if you lift the piece up.
The bust is possibly in the manner and style of Auguste Rodin of France, the 19th Century sculptor, famous for the life-size marble statue of lovers kissing.
François Auguste René Rodin (1840-197)
