A fine late Regency library timepiece of small proportions by Will Chater of London and dating from c.1830.

The ebonised gadroon topped case has inlaid brass decoration, with locking glazed front and rear doors, brass stringing to the sides and raised on brass feet.

The well engraved silvered dial is signed for Will Chater, London.

Unsigned timepiece movement with screw for securing the pendulum.

Overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
William Chater is thought to have worked in London from around 1804 until 1845. From 1811 till 1826 he was at 134 Goswell Street, then from 1832 until 1845 at 163 Goswell Street.
