A rare Georgian mahogany longcase clock of small proportions, with inset mercury barometer.

The finely made mahogany case has good veneers and marquetry inlay to the hood door, with break arch dentil cornice over delicate reeded columns.
The trunk has canted reeded corners flanking an ogee arched-top long door.

The door has an inset enamel barometer scale with scale from 28 to 31 inches and weather indications for 'settled fair to frost inclined to dry doubtful inclined to wet, settled, rain snow or wind'.

The 8-inch circular painted dial is signed 'S Robson, N Shields', with Roman and arabic numerals, and strike/silent lever to the side.

The four pillar movement has anchor escapement, striking on a bell.
Overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
Samuel Robson (1745-1794) is listed as having made a dozen or more longcase clocks in North Shields. He is son of William Robson, also a clockmaker.
