Small Regency bracket clock. The 4.5 inch round convex painted dial signed Bentley & Beck London with Roman hour numerals and blued steel hands.

High quality double chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, five pillars and substantial shaped plates with border line engraving to the backplate. Striking the hours on a bell with strike/silent and trip repeat function. Stirrup type pendulum with securing bracket.

The frontplate is stamped with the mark of Handley and Moore, numbered 4620.

The ebonised case with a platform to the top with brass sound frets and brass acorn finial. The front of the case inlaid with brass rosette's and swags, brass fish scale frets to the sides and brass ring handles. The clock stands on four brass acorn feet.

Bentley & Beck are listed as working in the Royal Exchange, London. 1805-24.

Handley & Moore, Clerkenwell Close, London. 1798-1824. Two apprentices of Thwaites, supplied the trade with high quality clock movements. Handley died in 1824, the business continued as John Moore & Son until the late 19th century. Unfortunately unlike the firm of Thwaites & Reed, no records for Handley & Moore are known to have survived.
