An unusual painted tin snuff or tobacco box, decorated with a naively realised scene of the island of Heligoland beneath a dramatic sky, with a small port with steps leading up cliffs to an upper town with red-roofed houses, a church, a lighthouse or lookout tower, and flagpoles flying large flags. There are two sailing ships on a lively sea in the foreground, and the inside of the tin has the name "Georg Mellin".

An early 19th century depiction of the island can be seen in the fourth photograph of this entry.
