Size: 13.5cm long – 5¼ ins long
These votive carvings were known in 16th century Spain as a ‘Higa’, a fist shaped amulet that is directed against the evil eye. The thumb and first finger forming a characteristic position of a ‘mano cornuta’ or ‘potent gesture directed against evil’.
