Adriaen Cornelisz Beeldemaker was a Dutch artist known for his paintings of landscapes with dogs and hunting scenes, although he is also known to have painted some portraits. Born in Rotterdam, in 1650 he joined the Guild of St Luke in Leyden where he worked for most of his life, working also in Dordrecht between 1656 to 1662. In 1676 he moved to The Hague where he remained until his death in 1709. Two of his sons also became artists, Francois and Cornelis. Examples of his work are represented at Kadriorg Palace in Tallinn, Estonia. Another example of his work with a strikingly similar composition to this painting sold at Christies, Amsterdam in May 2012.
