A series of Wall Panels from SS Olympia 1953
These eleven maple panels are inlaid in a variety of exotic woods with marquetry pictures of the fish and animals which would have featured on the ship’s gourmet menu. They were removed from the First Class Dining Saloon on S S Olympia when she was broken up in 2005.

The ocean liner S S Olympia was built on the River Clyde in 1953 by Alexander Stephen and Sons, for the Greek Line to operate from Piraeus to New York. Her top speed was 23 knots and she carried 138 First Class and 1169 Tourist Class passengers. In 1970, due to competition from air
travel she became a full time cruise ship.
