He became a painter of still lifes, nudes, figures and portraits.
He was the runner up in the Prix de Rome and won medals at the salons of 1902 and 1905, when he was ranked hors concours. As well as painting he also designed textiles.
In 1903 he was awarded a travel bursary and visited Greece Italy and Spain where he painted many views of the landscape there.
Much of his work depicts nude figures in a classical pose.
This pair of still lifes are truly delightful and very rare for the artist and date from 1910.
