Henri was born in Ixelles, Brussels and went on to study under
Auguste Oleffe at the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.
He became a painter, watercolourist, engraver and lithographer
and went on to exhibit his work in Belgium between 1911 and 1945.
He was a teacher at the School of Fine Arts in Louvain and the School of Decorative Arts in Vilvorde.
He preferred to paint using shades of tinted grey, as can be seen in this painting.
This is a very rare still life, as much of his work was landscape.
