The Strand Electric Company began operating in 1914 to serve London’s theatre district. Set up by two London theatre electricians Arthur Earnshaw and Phillip Sheridan. In 1926 Century Lighting opened for business in New York to serve Broadway. In 1968 Strand Electric became Rank Strand.

Today, Strand Lighting, the union of these two companies, continues as the world’s leading name in stage, television, motion picture, and architectural lighting and services.This Strand pattern 23 theatre lamp has a die-cast ventilated body, 360 degree rotation, adjustable lens tube and an internal anodized reflector.The Light gives a clear-cut soft beam that is ideal for feature lighting and showing specific objects such as a work of art.

The lamp has been fully cleaned, polished and reconditioned to house a standard light bulb up to 100 watts. It is displayed above a period mahogany surveyors tripod which is fully adjustable.
