Favourite Item
A superb five-panelled carriage clock by one of the top French carriage clock makers, Alfred Drocourt. The eight-day duration movement strikes the hours and half hours on a gong, with push button repeat and has a silvered platform lever escapement of typical Drocourt form.
The backplate is stamped with the trademark for Drocourt, the initials D.C either side of a clock, along with the serial number 18520. The inside of the movement is stamped with a further Drocourt trademark, an oval with the name to the edge.
The porcelain dial is decorated with a blue and white daisy pattern, with black Roman numerals and blued steel spade hands. The gilded corniche case has further blue and white daisy pattern panels to the sides, and unusually also to the rear door and to the oval at the top.
