An extremely striking pastel portrait of a handsome young man by Guelin Paulin. The execution by the artist is very precise and beautifully drawn. The young man has green eyes which he fixes very firmly on the viewer. He is dressed in a black frock coat under which a green waistcoat is visible. Paulin was known for his accomplished pastel portraits and undertook commissions from Charles X. The pastel has been framed behind glass in a gilt wood early 19th century frame. The pastel is signed by the artist.
