The figure of the naked archer with a helmet protecting his head is depicted drawing his bow and standing on naturalistic base signed and dated E.M. GEYGER FRC and with inscription: 'AKT GES vorm H GALDENBECK u SOHN, BERLIN, FRIEDRICHSHAGEN'.
The German scupltor started work on the original figure in 1895, the original model being made of copper and standing four metres in height, this was submitted to the Grosse Berliner Kunstaustellung exhibition of 1900. The Kaiser purchased this model and later 'The Archer' was produced in three sizes and was a popular piece for the Berlin foundry, Gladenbeck.
This bronze is in excellent condition and can go straight into a home or collection.
