Tall, Slim, Beautifully Inlaid Mahogany Antique Edwardian Display Cabinet / Bookcase.
This elegant Edwardian antique mahogany display cabinet / bookcase, dating from around 1900, has beautiful inlaid detailing adding to the stylish look that the height and slender proportions already provide the piece with. It has a moulded cornice above a delightfully inlaid ‘swags and tails’ decorative frieze below which sits an astragal glazed door with key and working lock.
The interior has three fixed shelves sitting in front of a back panel covered in an early fabric lining (showing signs of age and use but could easily be recovered to suit ones personal taste). The antique display cabinet stands on cabriole legs and has satinwood cross banding with boxwood and ebony string inlay around all the edges. It is a rich, medium mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
