Boxed game of fishing, using a hook on a cedar wood rod. Twenty cardboard fish, two rods & printed instructions to the inside of the lid. Printed label with maker’s name, J.Jaques & Son, London. Invented by Alfred Seeley, the game found popularity in Victorian England. John Jaques & Son is one of the oldest and most famous manufacturer of games in the world, having begun in 1795 and passed down from father to son for six generations, and are still making high quality toys and games today.There are versions of this game in both the V&A Museum and the State Museum of South Australia.
