Two volumes complete - Volume One - , 500pp and Volume Two - , 486pp. Contemporary full calf, low raised bands, spines in five panels, morocco title label to second panel, volume label to fourth, other panels gilt, covers with wide border with large volute corner pieces, gilt roll to edges and inner dentelles, small shell marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. Spines slightly faded, slightly rubbed to extremities. Internally signatures N and S in volume one are foxed and browned, otherwise fairly bright and clean. Engraved portrait frontispiece to volume one. First published in 1824 in quarto (See Blackmer 366), "Otter was a friend of Thomas Malthus and the two travelled with Clarke to Scandinavia. His letters to them on his further journeys are included here as well as letters to Clarke by Byron and Burckhardt amongst others" (Blackmer)
