The Picnic
We went with Grandpa to a farm across Windermere. Grandpa went to buy a horse, but he always took a long time with his friend - The Farmer , so Mother, the Aunts, also Miss Carter (who wore pink) packed a lot of food so that we could have a lovely picnic in the field which ran down to the lake shore. There was only one thing that we didn't like - the cows sometimes came into that field, but Aunt Mary, who wasn't afraid of them said that she and Mr Taylor (the Bank Manager) would send them away. Grandpa bought Zober, our dear pony that day and the year was 1907.
