Painter in oil. History and Genre scenes. Pierre entered the Ecole des Beaux –Arts in Paris in 1851, where he trained under Leon Cogniet and gained second prize in the Prix de Roma in 1855. He first exhibited at the Paris salon in 1857 and was a medal winner in 1866 ane1868. Coninck’s religious scenes, genre paintings and portraits of woman show a realism underscored by skilled drawing and powerful use of colours.
