I found this painting in the original not very good frame with a mount that I changed for a new acid free mount along with new non-reflective glass and a new frame.
The original watercolour paper used by the artist is in perfect condition.
There are a number of different marine images by this artist on the internet, all painted to a high standard, an artist worth collecting by collectors who are interested in maritime history.
The price includes export, packing, transit insurance and delivery to your door.

Exhibited at The Mall Galleries in 1986.

20th Century Dutch

Little known Dutch artist who in oil and watercolour, specializing in Marine paintings of 19th and 20th century ships from all nations. De Vries worked to a high standard with attention of detail to the structure of each ship and the rigging on his Schooners. There are a lot of high quality images of his work listed but not a lot about the artist. He exhibited at the Mall Galleries Royal Society of Marine Artists exhibition in 1986 showing a gouache picture of a small “Three-Masted Barquentine” named “The “Tweed”.
