Bearing the characteristics of the legendary Thomas Chippendale is this rare George II-period Pembroke table. Veneered entirely in burr yew wood, this table is a sight to behold. With its balanced design, beautiful proportions, rich patina and overall condition, this is a museum-quality masterwork.

After over 250 years, this Pembroke remains in excellent condition, exhibiting the tell-tale signs of masterful craftsmanship synonymous with Chippendale himself. Clearly, no expense was spared in the tables creation. The selection of yew wood would have been costly, since the tree grows at a much slower rate than other decorative woods. However the timber’s distinctive color and grain make it the perfect choice for such a stunning creation.

The table’s form was inspired by the Classical movement of which many of Chippendale’s iconic designs celebrated. The folding top allows the table to be utilized in numerous ways, and the lockable, mahogany lined drawer keeps one’s valuables secure. The brass handles, lock and casters are original to the table, making it all the more important and beautiful,
