Rare early 20th Century mahogany-cased “Atmos Barometer” in original condition; the twin capsule aneroid movement operating the indicator arm with engraved silvered brass register, bearing 5 weather notations. The silvered brass thermometer with twin curved alcohol/Centigrade and mercury/Fahrenheit scales. The whole contained within glazed mahogany case, bearing maker’s ivory signature plaque, and surmounted by brass carrying handle.[W 7in/18cm; H 6in/15cm; D 4in/10cm]

Haigh acquired the successful business of George Wood at 20 Lord St. on the proprietor’s retirement in 1894, having risen to the level of workshop manager. Wood, himself, had taken over the prestigious firm of Abraham Abraham in 1875.
