Scott wrote a number of detective novels and attracted tributes to his work by Dorothy L Sayers.

In Tragedy at Ravensthorpe, his detective Sir Clinton in his second case has two robberies, two murders together with the disappearance of a character to solve.

A formulaic device of a valuable treasure - the da Vinci medallions - is used around which to weave the narrative.

From the front endpapers in script we learn that the book's place in Chatsworth House was in the Smoking Room.
Wear and marking to the black boards, the title and spine title are clear.
