A whitewood spool box with a rare applied print of Ramsgate Harbour, showing a paddle steamer bringing visitors to the town.

The construction of Ramsgate Harbour began in 1749 & was not completed until 1850. Paddle steamers brought holiday makers from London to Ramsgate from the 1830's. The print shows good detail of the harbour, including the lighthouse, designed by the port architect John Shaw Jnr.

The box also has a paper label applied "A Gift From Ramsgate".
