An example of how English ladies copied the weaving techniques of the first imported carpets from Turkey (hence the name). The existence of a border would suggest that the piece was used as a cushion cover. Not many pieces of Turkey Work have survived; examples are on chairs in the Geffrye Museum and the V&A.
Remarkably fresh colours; corrosion to the black, losses to ground. Mounted
