Both Service parts are splendidly decorated with plastically molded flower festoons. The handles are made of entwined rose branches. These two pieces are part of the Breakfast Service of the Electress of Saxony and Regina of Poland Maria Josepha (1699–1757), wife of Augustus III. Johann Joachim Kaendler created the service for her Majesty in the years 1738 and 1739, as his work records show (view: Ulrich Pietsch: Kaendlers Arbeitsberichte. May 1738, nos. 1, 5; July 1738, nos. 2, 4, 7; September 1739, no. 8). These reports describe the enormous effort of the production of the service of which every part is molded by hand.
