Favourite Item
Rare pair of hallmarked sterling silver knitting needle boots, or protectors made in London in 1912 by Charles & Walter Padgett.
Each boot is fully hallmarked and bears the design registration number 491553, dating to about 1907.

Each boot has two slots at the top and these would have had elastic threads linking the boots. The boots would then be slipped over each end of a knitting needle prior to placing it in a sewing bag.
Excellent, original condition with only minor scratches to the surface and a few small dents to the soles, caused by knitting needles. The elastic thread is now missing.
