Item Description / Dealer Expertise

Antonio Paoletti was born in Venice in 1834. He specialised in painting genre scenes and he occasionally adopted the style of the 18th century. Paoletti was very fond of depicting the people of Venice going about their daily work, often set against the background of the well known buildings and canals of the city. he often incorporated children in his work and these paintings are particularly endearing. It is also known that he painted the ceiling of the Church of the Madonna dell'Orto.

He died on the 13th December 1912 in Venice and his work has been exhibited in Rome, Milan and Turin.
