Depicting the famous Piazza San Marco and Saint Mark’s Column in Venice, Italy. With figures and boats on the Grand Canal, and a view of Basilica di Santa Maria della. Oil on canvas, and mounted in a swept gilt frame.

Edward Pritchett (fl 1828-1864)

Pritchett is noted for his Venetian scenes, showing the beauty of the city as a backdrop to the daily life of the inhabitants. He was an exhibitor at the Royal Academy from 1828 until 1849, The Royal Society of British Artists and the British Institution. He is now represented in the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Museum of Liverpool, Manchester City Art Gallery.
