Victorian Ash Antique Glazed Bookcase.
This beautiful Victorian ash antique glazed bookcase dates from around 1880 and still has the old ‘Walter Clarke furniture store, Halstead Essex’ label attached to its side. It has a rectangular moulded top above a deep frieze with a sunflower carved motif and contrasting tones of ash. The sides are reeded and the doors have the original bevelled glass and handles. Each interior has two adjustable shelves and the whole piece stands on a moulded plinth. The antique bookcase is a lovely golden, warm ash with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
