| Item Description / Dealer Expertise |
Large Victorian mahogany casket with a makers label underneath – ‘John Taylor & Son Edin. Ltd, Cabinet Makers Edinburgh’ and product design number A1894, which could also be the date 1894. The deep pagoda top has brass inlay and a nicely carved frieze, and opens to show a single area inside which is polished. The casket is also brass inlaid on the front, sides and back. There are 2 brass lion mask handles with ring pulls on the sides, and the casket stands on 4 hairy paw brass feet. Unusual and very stylish.
