This magnificent Victorian marquetry inlaid rosewood knee hole desk features a shaped front and concave back, inlaid with satinwood, boxwood and palm wood, depicting cherubs and heavy scroll work. The profuse and ornate inlay work is well executed, with beautifully finished paneled sides and back. The desk stands on reeded legs with brown ceramic castors, and has 9 drawers in total, with a tooled, bottle green leather top. It measures 50 in – 127 cm wide, 24 in – 61 cm deep and 30 ½ in – 77.5 cm high, with a knee height of 24 ¼ in – 61.5 cm. This desk is a fine and unusual example of the period.
